Portmeirion 3 and Makings
The Piazza which was once tennis courts. “Trinity” my fav building is on the right.
We will walk from area 3 and 2 on the map down to area 1 by the sea.
This is the view to our left – Clifftops.
Closer views of the buildings ahead.
Details on the wall surrounding the higher part of the Piazza.
Piazza from Clifftops.
Details of statues.
So now we will walk to area 1.
Some buildings are shops just like you would expect in a village.
Other shops were having building work so were closed. It was March so very early in the season.
The “Town Hall”
Details of statues and decorations.
Beautiful wrought iron in the Town Hall building.
Other beautiful metalwork which caught my eye.
We are now out of the Piazza going past these buildings on our left.
The Piazza behind us.
The Town Hall building is to our right.
Painting inside a portico of the Town Hall.
We follow the road as it curves to right and come to the hotel.
The tide is out but the river is still flowing to the sea.
Details on the hotel.
View of Portmeirion Village just up the hill.
An interesting looking grotto has been built by the river.
The slope of the hill has been used well with tiered viewing places.
I leave with you with this final shot of Portmeirion- the waterfall leading from the pools in the Piazza to the sea.
Now for this week’s makings:
I made a fabric tube
for this crochet dachshund draught excluder.
It came from this vintage book.
Can you think of a good name for it? I am so undecided.
Pumpkinville 5 is finally done.
Here it is with the rest of Pumpkinville so far. One more block and I will be halfway.
I still don’t like needle turning! Tell me this is good discipline.
I also have the fairy log cabin blocks which Simone gave me, sewn into this mini quilt.
Detail of one of Simone’s blocks.
I have some embroidery started now that Pumpkinville 5 is done. It is a little reward for me.
Will share when it is done.
