February Makings

 First some finishes:
Charity (Summer) is all finished even before Spring has begun.
At the beginning of February I signed up to a Love Workshop with Tracy of Prana Light
We had daily videos to inspire and teach us as well as a workbook to go through at our own pace. It was a very rewarding experience.
I decorated this box in fabric and paper, and painted the base and inside in blue enamel paint so it looked laquered.
As the theme was Love, I went to my “Drawer of Strokables” and picked out Laurel Burch’s Mythical Horses and Dancing Horses.
I had some blue wave fabric left over from Ocean Song.
The design came from a Schnibbles book, but instead of a plain border
I used up the left over pieced batiks from another quilt, and added another black border.
It turned into a monster sized 90″ beastie I called “Surf and Turf”. It is backed in plain black. I was lucky enough to find some wide enough so I didn’t need to join it in the middle. Black binding.
It means I have met one of my aims this year which was to use more Laurel Burch fabrics up.
It makes more sense to have the gorgeous fabrics where I can see them.
Where I have used so much of the Strokable Drawer, I was able to squeeze the left overs on to the shelves. 🙂 Only 2 drawers have fabric in now. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have used so much fabric that it can all fit on the shelves.

Another finish is this cardi with cute strawberry buttons. It is the one I showed you on the needles in a previous post.  It has taken a while as it was done on 2.75mm and 3.25mm needles.
It is for Daughter who is here until Wednesday, so I finished it just in time for her arrival on Saturday.
I signed up for the Pumpkinville BOM with the Fat Quarter Shop but have only finished the 1st block so far.
I am very behind. I put a dog in instead of a cat.
Now some WiPs:
Pumpkinville 2 is prepared. I don’t do needle turning very often as it involves all that pinning and pieces slipping or falling off.
I would sooner reverse (or not) the pattern pieces and heat and bond them into position so nothing falls off as I sew. Above is “Pumpkin Pie” made at half size. I couldn’t face another huge quilt so soon after Surf and Turf. I wont tell you how much crazy patchwork I had to do to get those orange dot borders! Good job some crows could cover the worst of the joins.
I am currently sewing this one.
Debi Hubb’s “Out To Lunch” is bonded ready to sew. I plan to hang this in the dining room as it will go with the blue and white crockery on the dressers. Binding is made in dark blue.
While I was cutting I thought it was a good idea to prepare the other Debi Hubbs crow pattern I have “The Quilters.” I still have more of these blue fabrics, so I think I will make more of this series in the future.
Finally another Laurel Burch is waiting for me to buy more batting. It is the other colourway of Mythical Horses in olive and grape colours. The yellow binding and brown tabs are made. It will be backed in green.
