Never in the field of human conflict

 Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. A Spitfire, Lancaster Bomber, and a Hurricane.
This Lancaster is one of only 2 still flying. The only other is in Canada.
I heard her fly over our house and knew the engine sound immediately from so many films. 
I dashed outside with tears in my eyes. It was this sight which made me go to the airshow the following day.
This display was a time capsule of the 1940s.

The average age of a Spitfire pilot was 20. 
The average training for a Spitfire pilot was 2 months.
The average life expectancy of a Spitfire pilot was 2 weeks.

Now a much lighter note.
Steam roller and model aircraft….now what could go wrong.
This clip from the Dad’s Army film from about 1.00 onwards immediately sprang to my mind.
I had my 1st go with a gun since I was a kid. 
9/10 wasn’t bad! 
Now all I need is a rocking chair, porch and a bad mood, then the world can be afraid…very afraid!
