The tale of a layer cake

It began with a layer cake called “At Water’s Edge” by Moda. The stitcheries were on osnaburg. The borders and binding were extra. See previous posts for stitchery details. The backing is a tea stained cotton sheet on everything.
With the left overs I made a couple of cushion covers.
That left these little bits on the right and border left overs on the left.
Today I made the 4 apple coasters and that is the end of the layer cake. There’s a layer of warm and natural between the patchwork and tea stained sheet backing. There are still bits from the border fabrics left. I am so impressed with how far that one cake went and will buy one again sometime as it’s a good way of getting lots of fabrics which totally go with one another. I’m not very good at matching fabrics so it’s good for me.

I’m still working on the secret quilt with Messy Karen but I’m at the “In need of inspiration” stage. 🙂 The basics are there but I’m thinking about the frippery. My next project is a seaside wall hanging for a friend. It’s still at the planning stage.

So how is your week going? What are you all making? I’ll be popping in to see. 🙂
