Well I promised to show you what was through the arches at the top of the Grand Cascade.

The upper rill flows via the pools to the lower rills.

We are now inside the Ornamental Garden. It is enclosed with high brick walls.

This means that the high winds don’t harm things like the fruit blossoms early in the year, so there is a good crop.

At the very centre is a pool with a rill to either side, and one which heads downhill to link up with the ones we have seen.

There is a formality and structure giving the planting a harmonious feel.

The roses aren’t out but what a joy to see all these satin-petal tulips.
