Matilda and Silver and bits

This is my daughter’s bear Matilda. This morning she was the only naked bear so my daughter wanted to do something about that. She made paper patterns and sewed them with my help out of homespun check cottons. She only had one eigths to work with and neither of us had done this before so we made a day of it. I made a pair of moss stitch shoes in a beige to match the apron with cute bow details and button bar fastening. The dress is bias bound, and the apron is tie fastening with box pleats. We have more top secret plans for Matilda.

This was my main project yesterday. It is an art noveau photo frame made from deep blue cotton velvet and silver polyester satin. I used bondaweb for the 1st time to get the silver onto the velvet. The trickiest bit was sewing the zigzag round the silver edge and make the design intertwine round itself. Just need to decide what is worthy of being put in it. LOL

Rowan the Squirrel was finished too. Decided against the acorn.

Would you believe I don’t have any golden yellow fabric? Well I was shocked so the wheat was chain stitched onto the linen.

This is Goody the owl with a broken wing hanging down. Another one for the table runner. Linen on cotton.

An Autumn leaves patch for the table runner. Love that batik cotton fabric. It inspired me to make the following from a chocolate box.

This will be my Box of Fire when it’s fully finished. So far it’s had a layer of poster paint over the worst of the original printing, and several layers of tissue paper PVA ed over in increasingly lighter and narrower strips. The inside wil be painted red with gold glittery bits when it’s dried.

Lastly I made this little fella from Fimo while I was eating pizza. I think “Little Blue” wanted some too.
